Hosting My First Wedding Photography Workshop

I hosted my FIRST WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP! I’ve had a dream to host my own workshop ever since I attended my first workshop.

When I was a guest at my first workshop, I felt so inspired and got to meet so many awesome photographers. The workshop left me with a ton of sweet content, and I went home feeling pumped about life and ready to apply what I had just learned.

Fast forward to January 31st and I’m hosting a wedding workshop at the stunning Hycroft Manor in Vancouver with the help of some AMAZING vendors (be sure to scroll down for their info).

My goals were to help photographers turn their side hustle into a career as a full time wedding photographer, help them get more clients, and ensure they left feeling as inspired as I was after attending my first workshop years ago. Let’s talk about the day, beginning with part 1!

Part 1

We began the day at Hycroft Manor in Vancouver, a stunning venue with a variety of outdoor and indoor backdrops — a perfect way to ensure my workshop guests shot a variety of content!

We had Josh and Emily modeling as a bride and groom, and we also had Brooklyn modeling for bridal portraits. We ventured around the mansion together, with everything going so smoothly it felt like I was producing a movie.

My main bro Shyah of Shyah K. Films was a huge support and encourager, and even filmed the event for me! 3 hours later it was time to move on to part 2 of the workshop.

Part 2

For the last half of the workshop, we drove to The Best Western in Langley where I had rented a conference room. I got the pizza ordered right away and made sure the candy and bubbly was flowing.

We were there for 3 hours, beginning with a debrief about how the shooting went. Then we moved on to fun icebreakers to get to know each other, and I was LOVING the dynamic between my guests!!

Then my co-host Sam (an absolute sweetheart who I met through Instagram) and I did a presentation. I talked about marketing, sales, and the wedding photography business as a whole, while Sam talked about client relations and shared her story.

We ended with a question and answer period before parting ways. I explained my workshop goals at the beginning of this blog post, and I believe we completely nailed those goals by the end of our incredible day together!!

I am already dreaming of the next event that I’ll be hosting because this was an absolute blast!!! I was running on adrenaline and absolutely wiped after but it was SO worth it because I’m thankful for the opportunity to be able to do what I truly love.
