My FAVORITE Locations For A BC Couples Shoot!

Here’s a list of my absolute favorite locations for a BC couples shoot — stunning spots for bridal photoshoots, amazing engagement photo shoots, and fun couples shoots!

Crescent Beach, Surrey / Blackie Spit Park

Month this session took place: May

City: South Surrey

This is a gorgeous location based in South Surrey. For your BC couples shoot here, we have access to a beautiful beach for optimal lighting and a grassy park for a more chill vibe. Bonus features include the variety of parking options and the dogs only off-leash swimming area if you decide to bring your furry friend.

I am a HUGE FAN of this spot, especially at golden hour!!!

Pitt Lake

Month this session took place: June

City: Pitt Meadows

Are you outdoorsy and adventurous and need that killer mountain backdrop for some fun photos?! Or are you just classy as can be and want some bombbbb portraits?? Either way, Pitt Lake wedding photos are as PNW as it gets and I lose my breath every time I shoot here.

This location has camping, boating, fishing, and hiking, giving you LOTS of options if you’d like to do an adventure session or pack a picnic and spend the day here after/before your Campbell Valley Park photoshoot.

Campbell Valley Park

Month this Session Took Place: December (first row) and July (second row)

City: Langley

This is a gorgeous location based in South Surrey. We have access to a beautiful beach for optimal lighting and a grassy park for a more chill vibe. Bonus features include the variety of parking options and the dogs only off-leash swimming area if you decide to bring your furry friend.

I am a HUGE FAN of this spot, especially at golden hour!!!

Whonnock Lake

Month this session took place: March

City: Maple Ridge

Whonnock lake wedding photography is one of my personal favorites during golden hour for the super romantic vibe!! I’m obsessed with this spot!!

The lake, beach, and open green space give LOTS of options for shots — it’s especially great for beautiful sunset beach wedding photos!

This is another great place to spend the day before your portrait session as they have great parking, fishing, picnic areas, a playground, volleyball, wildlife viewing, a BBQ area, and swimming.

Redwood Park, Surrey

Month this session took place: October

City: Surrey

FUN FACT, this park is where my parents had their first date when my mom was FOURTEEN. Ya, you heard that right.

This spot is great for its variety and fresh nature feel! There’s a warm, rustic vibe in the photos taken in this park, especially with the option to climb up to a treehouse during your portraits. It is especially beautiful to explore all the exotic trees in the Fall.

For you tree lovers, this park boasts a grove of Sierra Redwoods, the tallest tree species in the world.

Golden Ears Provincial Park (Beach Entrance)

Month this session took place: September

City: Maple Ridge

A not so fun fact is that I used to hate this spot because I got lost EVERY time I went and my stress levels were through the roof because there is no cell service out there for Apple Maps to re-route me.

BUT I am FINALLY 100% confident in my ability to drive there, so I am happy to host sessions there and recommend it. But if you are as reliant on your phone for directions as I am, then remember my warning!!

This location is well worth the risk of getting lost on the way. Looking at the photos below you’d think you were in a scene from Lord of the Rings with the towering misty mountains and still water.

This is another location that is filled with picnic opportunities and hiking trails.

Aldergrove Bowl & Aldergrove Regional Park

Month this session took place: September

City: Aldergrove

If you Google Aldergrove Bowl it will tell you that it is a “recovered gravel extraction site on the east side of the park”. Pretty romantic hey? Well it turns out that a “blank slate” kind of location is exactly what you want for a portrait shoot.

It offers uncomplicated backgrounds with a beautiful color palette of greens and yellows. The color palette of this location makes it ideal for the warm hues of Golden Hour, as seen in the photos below.

Aldergrove Regional Park offers the same color palette with more forested areas. These two locations are only a few minutes drive from each other so you can hit both as easily as we did in the photos below!!

Kilby Historic Site

Month this session took place: August

City: Aggassiz

This Heritage Site gives you the opportunity to tour a general store, hotel, and post office from the early 1900s… AND get stunning shots with your babe!!!

This location has a few options depending on whether you want a more romantic vibe by the water, or an edgy shoot with concrete and graffiti as your background.

There is a cafe at this location as well as a campground if you want to turn your photoshoot into an overnight stay in this beautiful part of the Eastern Fraser Valley.

Buntzen Lake

Month this session took place: August

City: Anmore, just north of Port Moody

The first time I was shooting here I got so carried away with golden hour that I didn’t realize the park had closed and my car almost got towed. Oops! Live and learn…

There’s plenty to explore around this beautiful lake, which is about 10 km round trip! There are heavily forested areas, bridges, and you guessed it, WATER! There is plenty of it to kick around for some playful shots with your babe.

If you are a hiking couple and want an adventure session, there are lots of surrounding hiking trails. I would love to explore this lake with you and your babe!!!

Other Ideas?!?!

I am totally open to any other ideas of locations if there is somewhere meaningful to you and your loved one!!! Let me know what you have in mind and WE WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!! Can’t wait to create some memories for you!!
